Raymond Island Camp

Our week long Raymond Island camp offers relaxation, friendship and action, all in a beautiful setting on the Gippsland Lakes. Meet friends, new and old, and keep an eye out for the locals too, bouncing through the camp ground or climbing the trees.

What happens on camp?

Each day we come together for meals and the daily circle time (a time to hear what is happening that day and share the fun of the day before). Throughout the day, there are numerous activities for you to choose from, including:

– Walking or bike riding across the ferry into Painsville for a coffee at a cafe or to visit the Op Shop

– Swimming at the beach

– Sailing on the lakes, Jigsaw puzzles

– Cricket and other sports

– Boccie and lawn bowls

– Animal Spotting.

Other optional activities are the chapel session each morning for a short reflection and topical discussions in the evenings.

On one of the evenings, during dinner, there is a dress-up theme – keep an ear out for what this year’s will be!

Where do we sleep?

There are a few different options for sleeping on the site, depending on what you’re comfortable with:

En-suite Cabins are modern accommodation with double and single beds, and they also come with their own toilet and shower. There are only 8 of them, so you’ll need to book early to make sure you get one.

West Cottage has three bedrooms, each with a double bed, and one central bathroom.

Bunk-rooms are just that, rooms of four or eight-bunk beds.

BYO tent or caravan and set up in one of the many places to camp on the Abby grounds

How does the food work?

Sharing is caring! We work on a roster system, where you’ll be cooking for one day, and have the other six off!

Everyone that come along is allocated into a duty group responsible for the day’s meals. You’ll be preparing the food in a large commercial kitchen, and all the meals and ingredients are taken care of, so you don’t even have to worry about that.

Duty groups are also a great way to get to know your fellow campers while you serve the community together.

Who goes to Raymond island?

Individuals and families of all ages! Including people from St Hilary’s Network and their friends who don’t necessarily go to church.
