What is the next step for you in maturing in your faith?

Baptism is often the first in a number of steps in the early stages of the Christian life.

For those who were baptised as an infant, Confirmation is step of confirming the promises that were made on your behalf.

For those who have been baptised and/or confirmed in another denomination and want to become a full member of the Anglican Church, which includes becoming a voting member, then Reception is the next step.

At St Hilary’s we have the purpose of Making, Maturing and Mobilising Disciples of Jesus Christ. As such, we want to help you to grow in your relationship with Jesus and we do this in a number of ways which can be seen more fully in our discipleship document.

If you are aged 13-20 years old then you are invited to attend the preparation classes being held throughout the year (you’ll find our upcoming times below).  These classes help people to understand what it means to be baptised and confirmed.  It is not a class that you ‘pass’ but one which informs and helps in the discernment process.  A successful class is one where together with the leaders and your family, you discern if you are ready to make this step of public declaration of your faith.  It’s OK to attend the classes and not be baptised, there’s absolutely no pressure put on people.

For more information on the classes, please download this information document.
