St Augustine’s has just recently become a part of the St Hilary’s Network. We currently run two congregations: our 4pm Gathering, and our 9am Traditional Service.

It is our conviction that we need to get back to the basics of being disciples of Jesus. Not following some new program or way of doing church, but living out our identity as God’s people: a family of missionary servants and asking God for imagination to figure out what that looks like in our context. The world around us is changing so fast. But people are still essentially the same: looking for happiness and meaning in their lives. And God is still the same: All-Powerful, Loving, Holy and earnestly seeking for us to know Him.

Right now our new congregation is structured around missional communities, which are ‘outward focused families.’ They are groups of anywhere between 6-18 adults who seek to live life together on mission, love each other like family and spur each other on in all that God has for us. We want for every member of St. Augustine’s to experience the fullness of what God has for them through knowing the gospel, and living out the gospel in community and on mission.

During the Week

Playgroup is an excellent opportunity for the adults to develop friendships and local networks, learn and support each other, while navigating life with small children.
Children are encouraged to participate in activities including craft, music, and group story time and also have plenty of time for free play. We share Bible stories and Christian songs at times, with a special focus on Easter and Christmas celebrations.

Playgroup fees are $50 per term per family.

Mainly Music is a fun music group for parents or primary care givers to enjoy with their young child. We have a 30 minute music session and also share morning tea together. Throughout the morning, children develop gross and fine motor skills, language, imagination, mathematical and pre-reading skills as well as socialise with others.
Children are introduced to music, creativity and more, plus families given a chance to think about the God-part of life. Amazing to think that all this can be achieved in a loving, shared family environment.
Each mainly music is associated with and is run by volunteers from St Hilary’s Network.
Mainly Music fees are $7 per week per family.

Coffee has long been recognised as a favoured drink and as such, also a means of bringing people together.
This is why, every week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 8 a.m. we open our Hall and offer Coffee – or Hot Chocolate or Tea – to parents leaving children at Kindergarten or school,  or to anyone passing by.
Infants and toddlers are welcome too.  There is a safe place for them to play whilst the coffee drinkers catch up with their friends and meet others.
We do not charge for the coffee but ask for a donation.  For a Coffee card of 6 coffees, we request a $20.00 donation.   $3.50 for a single cup.
Come and join us for a cuppa and a chat.
Of course if you are “on the run” or on the way to the train or tram, then Take Away is always available.

The St Augustines Kindergarten is a wonderful education opportunity for ‘Big’ little people in Mont Albert.

The St Augustines Kindergarten’s three and four year old programmes are renowned for being flexible and relaxed. We respect the individual needs of children and strive to build on children’s strengths. Our planned and responsive programme will encourage the development of your child’s physical, social, linguistic and intellectual potential.

The kindergarten itself is situated in a quiet, safe setting with a spacious and light building overlooking a well shaded play area – the perfect environment to stimulate your child’s own curiosity, ideas and self-expression. Our main objectives are to provide children with opportunities to learn and develop through play. Through play, children learn to develop skills across all areas of development — social/emotional, cognitive, gross and fine motor skills.

Through active participation we encourage the development of each child’s own curiosity, imagination and independent learning— all important for the development of a child’s positive sense of self.
