The Abbey is on Raymond Island on the Gippsland Lakes. It is ~300km (3.5-4 hours drive) from Melbourne via Princess Highway and Bairnsdale, and is accessed by ferry from Paynesville. The Abbey is the Conference and Retreat Centre of the Anglican Church of Gippsland. It has excellent facilities - a large dining and recreation hall, a beautifully restored chapel, two smaller conference rooms, large playing areas, safe swimming beach, sailing, water skiiing, bike hire, boat mooring (if pre-arranged) and much more. Cormorant by the Lakes is a campsite owned by the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne and managed under an agreement by St Hilary’s. It is located on the Banksia Peninsula, in the heart of the Gippsland lakes, 300 km East of Melbourne. Each Summer campers head there for the post-Christmas / New Year break. Camping amenities include powered sites, toilet, shower and laundry facilities as well as a gathering space and kitchen. Activities include waterskiing, wakeboarding and biscuit rides. The all-age camp is followed by a youth camp in early January.
