Term 1 Connect Group Resources

Over February, both morning and evening congregations are exploring the theme of Giving. Below are a couple of resources as suggestions for your group. Then from 9th March until Easter we will follow a series in the Gospel of Luke.

Good and Faithful: Ten Stewardship Lessons for Everyday Living
Author: Gary G. Hoag

Gary Hoag will be speaking at St Hilary’s on Sunday 9th February as part of our four week teaching series on Giving. One of the resources Gary has produced is this group study book on financial stewardship, which can be used in your group. Here is a description:
Do you want to hear the words: “Well done, good and faithful steward”? For most, the answer is yes. But when mortgages, grocery bills, vacations, and Christmas presents compete with our giving in the monthly budget, being good stewards of God’s money is often easier said than done. Through ten weeks of insightful lessons (including short video segments and using key biblical references), Good and Faithful will help both individuals and groups navigate the often-complex task of handling money faithfully on earth, which also prepares us to give an account of our stewardship to God in eternity. Teaching includes: Biblical instruction on money and stewardship; Tips on how to earn income, save money, and give generously; Advice on budgeting, borrowing, and other financial matters.

Money Makes Change: Small Group Resource
Author: Just Money Movement

Andrew and Janice led a study with their group last year on how to use money well for God. Andrew recommends it for other groups and writes: “our group did this and found it pretty well written and interesting. It's designed to expand one's thinking about money and our resources, and how we can use this to effect change / help bring in God's kingdom. It runs over 7 sessions, but can be tailored.”

Lent Study: Stories of Hope (Luke 15 – 19)

The Anglican Church nationwide is engaging in an intentional season of sharing hope in Jesus from Easter to Pentecost in 2025. It is called Hope25. As part of our preparation for this season of sharing the hope we have in Jesus, we will follow a teaching series during Lent from the gospel of Luke, Stories of Hope.

Stay tuned for the bible study booklet, which will be available on this page at the beginning of March.
