As we prepare for Easter and the passion of Christ, our church is setting aside Holy Wednesday as a day of fasting and prayer. This will be a time for our congregations to seek the Lord’s guidance, listen to his voice, and discern his direction for our church in response to the recent fire at Kew. Through fasting, personal reflection, and a corporate gathering, we will seek to align our hearts with God’s heart. It will be a fitting way of expressing two of our core practices – fasting and prayer. If you are not able to fast, then you are still welcome to pray and take part.
There are three parts to our day:
1) Individual Fasting & Prayer during the day
• Please download the prayer prompts below to help you pray during the day.
2) Prayer in the Church at Kew (9:00am-5:00pm)
• The church will be open for prayer during the day, We will have prayer stations to help you pray. Families with children are welcome too as we will have kid friendly prayer stations.
3) Evening Gathering at Kew (7:30pm-8:30pm)
• Sharing reflections from the day
• Seeking the Spirit’s leading for our church’s mission
A recent sermon on the Practice of Fasting can be found here.
