About our electives:
1. Crossing the Distance: From Welcome to Belonging (Lidia Lae)
The session will centre around four practical movements: noticing and becoming curious about another person’s world; taking responsibility for crossing the cultural distance; learning to be a good host; and ultimately moving from welcoming people to enabling shared participation and ownership.
Lidia Lae is a lecturer at the Centre for Theology & Psychology at Melbourne School of Theology and is a member of St Hilary's.
2. Making a Friend (Beck Miller)
Friendships are so important to life and are core to our community. This elective will cover material from The Friendship Course, exploring the simple yet often challenging task of what is involved in making a friend.
Rev Beck Miller is an Associate Minister at Merri Creek Anglican Church and the author of The Friendship Course.
3. Extending Friendship through Welcome Ministry (Adam Cetrangolo)
We've all had experiences of being welcomed into Church on a Sunday morning. What does an effective welcome look like? What are we wanting to achieve? What's too much and what is not enough? Whether you are a seasoned welcomer or considering joining the team, this very practical workshop is designed to help us all lift our game!
Our Lead Minister, Adam Cetrangolo, is passionate about welcoming as a key part of how we extend friendship to others.
Please register by Monday 23 October.
